Tuesday’s Trivia from Jam’s Corner

Some great rules for beating the “bloat” and having taut skin in no time “flat”!  What we ALL want on the beach in Rocky Point.

Minimize SALT - balloon faces happen from too much salt.

Maximize SLEEP – gives you a glowing complexion minus the swollen face look.

Start SOOTHING – refrigerated green tea bags shrink tissues

Special tip:  to create an eye compress soak a clean cotton cloth in cold soy milk.

Yes, the above is for all you men out there too.  Have you read “Younger Next Year”?  It’s excellent for men and women of all ages.  It's a great read for the beach.  You’ll want to go kayaking, dance until the band stops and view the sunset after a long walk on the beach.

Show the world what you’ve got!

You were meant to feel this way!

Climb a mountain.  Climb a tree.

See how silly you can be!

Laugh at life. Laugh at age.

                Enjoy yourself at every stage!

October’s almost here; it’s the perfect time of year to “live your life just being you” on the beach in Rocky Point!  Do you have your trip planned yet?  Is there anything we can do to help?  Living life barefoot is what it’s all about in Rocky Point and it’s waiting for YOU!

Tuesday’s Trivia with J. A. M. at the beach:

One of the best ways to honor and remember is to live life with love and gratitude.

There is no better place than the beach to balance the soul.  It’s the best for clearing your head and putting life into perspective.  Taking a walk on the beach helps you relax and make room for what’s really important in your life.  Plus, it’s free therapy!

Awaken your senses; escape to a world of sandcastles and lazy afternoons this fall in Rocky Point, Mexico.  Life follows a quieter rhythm here in our community by the sea.  Time is happily measured watching the sunrises and sunsets along our shoreline.  You’ll be inspired when you open yourself to the discovery of life by the sea.

Be sure to bring your camera.  Capturing the clouds rolling by, the white caps as they break and the footprints you and your family make are memories you’ll have forever.  Remember your favorite hat too.  Hats have a way of saying “yes” to receiving life with just a little more “moxie”.

Sipping wine at sunset is another gift to give yourself.  We have some really nice inexpensive wines in Rocky Point; try one while you’re here.  Sharing a romantic interlude is so very easy when you step back and slow down to live in the moment.

How do you spell love to a child?  T.I.M.E.  Giving your “time” to the little people in your life is so much fun on the beach.  You can take a walk and hunt for treasure along the way.  Building sandcastles, having a fire to roast marshmallows and playing beach games cost next to nothing and your children will look at you with wonder in their eyes as only children can.

Life is exhilarating!  Plunge into it with passion and an open heart.  Begin your day on the beach with thankfulness for our beautiful world, for the joy of sharing your gifts and lives with those you love.  That’s the purpose of life lived in a quieter time, at a slower pace by the sea in Rocky Point, Mexico and throughout the world!

Come play on our beach and feel the freedom of the sea and it’s treasures.

4 Things you might not have known about your Cell Phone

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.

Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST (Emergency)

The Emergency Number worldwide for  Mobile  is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND (Hidden  Battery  Power)

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

THIRD (How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone? )

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone:

A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

If your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally....

FOURTH (Free Directory Service for Cells)

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:

 (800) FREE411   or (800) 373-3411

without incurring any charge at all.  Program this into your cell phone now.

This is sponsored by McDonalds.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends.

Tuesday’s Trivia:

Pepper Power – Bell peppers contain natural chemicals called capsinoids that can help you lose weight.  So eat a pepper a day to help banish belly fat!

Chilly Cheers - Drink your water ice-cold.  The low temperature prompts your body to burn more calories during digestion.

Memory Booster –“Minding your blood pressure helps both your heart and your brain.  Recent research has revealed that maintaining healthy blood pressure can actually cut the risk of dementia in half.” David Katz, MD

Set an Alarm have an alarm go off 10 minutes before you have to leave the house every day.  It’s your official reminder to stop puttering and get going.

Drink Up - Dehydration makes you feel lethargic, and water restores energy.  Two 8-ounce glasses of water are a good antidote for morning drag.

Take a Walk Before Lunch “Around 1:00 PM there’s a natural lull in your circadian rhythm that signals the body to release melatonin, which makes you drowsy,” says sleep expert Michael Breus.  “You can prevent that dip by exposing your body to 10 minutes of sunlight at noon.”

Who’s ready for a 10 minute walk on our beautiful Rocky Point beach?  Give me a call, I’d love to meet you and take you for a walk on our incredible white sand beach.  602 334 4359

They teach it at standford

They Teach It at Stanford

In an evening class at Stanford the last lecture was on the mind-body connection - the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker (head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her health was to nurture her relationships with her girlfriends. At first everyone laughed, but he was serious.

Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences. Physically this quality “girlfriend time" helps us to create more serotonin - a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel about certain things or how their personal lives are going. Jobs? Yes. Sports? Yes. Cars? Yes. Fishing, hunting, golf?
Yes. But their feelings? Rarely.

Women do it all of the time. We share from our souls with our sisters/mothers, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym.

There's a tendency to think that when we are "exercising" we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged—not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking!

So every time you hang out to schmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health! We are indeed very, very lucky. Sooooo… let's toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it’s very good for our health.

Forward this to all your girlfriends – and stay in touch!

Thanks to all the girls in my life who have helped me stay healthy, happy, and feeling very loved.

Life isn't about surviving the storm; but how you dance in the rain.

" We all have possibilities we don't know about,. We can do things we don't even dream we can do. " Dale Carnegie.

What possibility are you wanting to dream about. For anything to become a realty it needs to be a dream first.

  • Creativity isn't just making something from scratch, but seeing potential in what already exists. Take a look around, what potential is wating for you to seize today?

  • The secret to getting unstruck might be locked in a dream. LOOK FOR THE KEY (in Rocky Point)..... If not know then When?

Did you know , if you break the cork when opening a wine bottle

you can filter the wine through a coffefilter.

If you run out of paper towels, put a few coffe filters on a plate and put

your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. It soaks

     out all the grease.

Until nexth month, life is what you make it......the choices are limitless, especially on the beach in Rocky Point.

Tips for increased energy and well being during the holiday season:

  • Take a walk in the fresh air, exposure to natural light can increase levels of the mood-lifting chemical serotonin.
  • Ease your mind by repeating a mantra.  Try “I believe in Santa Claus”.  It’ll bring a smile to your face.
  • Believe there are no limits but the sky!  Cervantes
  • Limit your caffeine intake today.  It dehydrates you.  Try green tea!
  • Snack on almonds!  Just 23 a day promotes a healthy heart and a healthy cholesterol level,
  • Start your day with a workout. Surprise your muscles; increase or reduce the weight you’re used to.
  • Sit tall at your desk.  Good posture makes you look leaner.
  • Eat omega 3 fatty acids to boost muscle recovery.  Try salmon, flaxseed and walnuts.
  • Choose 3 words that describe how you want to feel at the end of the year (fit, strong and ……..) and start every morning or work out by reading them aloud.
  • Write down 3 excuses you use to avoid exercise.  Jot down a solution for each.
  • Exercise gives you energy: more stamina for Christmas shopping, parties and giving the joy of the season to everyone you meet!
  • It’s in the giving we receive; give from your heart, give your time, give a smile and give a kind word.  Remember Santa Claus exists when you BELIEVE.
