A. Rosa's Impact in Rocky Point.
The recent tropical storm Rosa left behind flooded streets and homes in various parts of Puerto Peñasco, as well as several cars stranded in spontaneous lakes.
The remnants of Hurricane Rosa, which had been downgraded to a Tropical Storm by the time she visited Puerto Peñasco, could be felt throughout town starting principally Monday evening (Oct 1st) and through Tuesday. In her wake, she left thousands of Peñasco families recovering from damage to homes and principal roadways.
Donations are welcomed and needed in the Fire Station or Red Cross.

I. Client Review - Our Clients Say It Best!

"Grant MacKenzie Sr., was such a pleasure to work with. He cared about our interests, dedicated his time, and was diligent to find us the home that matched our needs. The entire process was extremely smooth. He was able to complete a very complex transaction with ease. I don't think someone without his knowledge and experience would have been able to get the same result. His constant communication kept us informed from start to finish. I would highly suggest working with him and will definitely do business with him again ."

September: Our fall is upon us! The season of “harvest” for you and your loved ones. What seeds have you planted both for yourself and others?, In what ways can you now receive nourishment and joy from the “crops” you’ve planted?
Sharing our harvest is one of life’s greatest joys. This includes the items we give to our bodies and spirits. It’s  time to think about how we can turn an ordinary moment into a festive occasion; a special time to share with young and not so young.
What 3 ways can we do something for someone else and for ourselves? Reap your harvest with gratitude, joy, love and laughter one day at a time.

Who can you share our beautiful beach with? Now’s the time!

H. Chiles en Nogada: A traditional Mexican Dish

Chiles en Nogada is a traditional Mexican dish made of poblano chiles stuffed with picadillo (a kind of hash, in this case consisting of a mixture of meat and dried fruit), covered in walnut sauce and garnished with pomegranate seeds and parsley. The dish is believed to have been invented in the 19th century by nuns in the town of Puebla. Since the dish has the colors of the Mexican flag and originated around the time of Mexican independence, it is considered one of Mexico's most patriotic dishes and is sometimes said to be Mexico's national dish.

Rocky Point News August 2018 - Where Our Wonder Is?

Where Our Wonder Is?

"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mistery of the world we live in."- Rachel Carson.

How fortunate if we get to be that adult who has the opportunity to be a companion to a child and support child's sense of wonder! We are lucky because that child can offer us the opportunity to rekindle our own awareness that wonder continues to dwell in us. That child can remind us that we still have the capacity to look at cloud formations with new eyes and to giggle in excitement with a new discovery. How long has it been since we really had a belly laugh, especially at ourselves? How long has it been since we saw a rainbow in a drop of rain? How long since we studied the progress of a red and black ladybug on our hand?
I wonder where our wonder is?

What child will you share the “wonder” with? It’s a treasure for the child and for YOU. It’s a gift that no amount of money can equal. When we’re lucky we have more than one child to be a part of the “difference” in their lives, the one who brings a smile to their faces and gives hugs that need no words. How often do we all do this? Why not make it more often; starting today?

6 Tips for Traveling with Children

1 Budget with discipline so you have money to travel. Allocate more money to travel and less to other things like clothes, cars or furniture. Save for trips instead.
2 Bring at least one other adult. When you have young children, try to find someone, maybe a cousin or aunt to help you during the trip. Just say, "I'm going for two or three days, would you like to come?".
3 Plan in advance. Find out how to call the equivalent of 911 and learn the location of doctors, trauma centers and hospital. Pack a first-aid kit, take a car seat and stroller. Bring extra snacks, change of clothes, water, formula and baby food.
4 Look for deals, but don't restrict your trips only to child-focused destinations. Try to go to places with other kids, many cultures in the world are child-friendly, and many destinations you might not think of as child-friendly they are. Go to places that the adults will like, too.
5 International travel is cheapest when your child is under 2 years old. Starting on their second birthday, they pay adult fares.
6 Try to have a kitchen. Whether's it's a rental house, condo or extended-stay hotel, a kitchen makes a lot of difference when traveling with children. As a bonus, they can have space for their toys.

Investment in Puerto Peñasco Yields Big Returns
Economic growth and opportunity is alive and well in Puerto Peñasco with 2018 being a major year for growth and expansion for this charming little fishing village nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the majestic Sonoran Desert.
There have been major announcements regarding the completion of the much-anticipated cruise terminal, a commitment from a cruise line to begin service to the terminal once the port is completed, an announcement from an airline to begin non-stop service from Mesa Getaway Airport to Puerto Peñasco International Airport and finally a commitment to safety made between the state of Arizona and Sonoran officials for travelers all in the last six months.

Hola Grant, Judy and your wonderful team,

We found you six years ago, and thank goodness we did. We want to thank you and your team for everything you have done for us and still helping us when we call you.

You and your team go above and beyond. We were a little scared, but you took all of that away. Everything from finding a pump, insurance, and a recipe that I had lost, guidance with our trust and everything in between. You were there for us six years ago and you are still there for us. That is a wonderful feeling.

Many thanks.

Market Analysis June & 2018 Year to Date

The Beach communities continue to show increased sales activity and shrinking inventory. A very positive sign as it has been a very slow recovery for this market segment.
Sandy Beach Condo sales are a little softer this year, however considering their positive growth the past 5 years it is still a very strong market.

The Wonder of Puerto Peñasco's Tides

Puerto Peñasco’s thrilling tidal movement is a spectacular show of nature, and a wonder to anyone lucky enough to witness it. This phenomenal change in high and low tides can be easily admired by all as the sea recedes meters at a time, or as the water returns to cover parts of the beach.
Oceanographer Roberto Escalante Ramirez explains the extraordinary change in tides in this area is due to various factors, but mainly because the ocean floor along this coastal region is stretched out. In other words, the shallow depth makes the rise and fall of tides extremely notable.
Furthermore, Puerto Peñasco is located in the Upper Gulf of California, which is itself a basin that produces a type of natural encasement of water currents, making the tidal shifts more visible.

Sandboarding in Rocky Point

Imagine adrenaline-fueled defiance of speed and the desert dunes! This is sand boarding, the extreme sport that has been gaining popularity across the globe and which you can now enjoy on Puerto Peñasco’s dunes.

Here in Puerto Peñasco, sandboarding opportunities can be found on dunes near the Shuck Toak Visitor’s Center of the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve, as well as on sand adjacent to local oyster farms, and along Sandy Beach.

Sandboarding can only be done in areas where nature has provided generous mounds of fine sand. In Puerto Peñasco one has the added benefit of taking in the spectacular scenery of estuaries and desert landscapes as you glide down a dune.

Our Clients Say It The Best!

Dear Grant,

It gives me great pleasure to write to commend you and your staff on the exemplary job accomplished in completing the sale of our Puerto Peñasco Casa!

As you know, the selling process was complicated by our buyers as just about every turn. Had it not been for the professionalism and patience of your staff, most notably that of yourself and Reyna Molina, I'm not sure we would've had the tenacity to see it through until the end.

The important thing is that, through your diligence, we were able to see it to completion.
Many thanks for your hard work and perseverance.

Regards,

Rocky Point News May 2018 - Let's Celebrate Mom's Love!

Let's Celebrate Mom's Love!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful Mother’s and all who have a Mother to
honor or a women in their life to honor this Mother’s Day and always! Where would we be without these special women? The women who have made and continue to make a difference in our lives and give us strength, wisdom, love and joy to pass on to our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and cherished friends are a forever blessing in our lives. Is there one little thing that stands out to you in what you’ve learned from these amazing women? How can you pass it on? It’s the gift that keeps on giving. My Mother’s gone almost 10 years and I still see her beautiful blue eyes and hear her voice: “don’t worry… I’ll be alright, have a good week” as she peaked out her bedroom door to say good-bye one morning when I was leaving.
Her wisdom “don’t worry”, strength recovering from a major stroke to speak, walk, drive her car and the love she gave so freely to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will live on through me forever as I honor her this Mother’s Day and every day of my life. To be a Mother is a gift beyond words.

Champagne Macarons

Bring a little French flavor to your Mother's Day celebration. Made with Champagne-infused buttercream, these macarons are a decadent treat Mom definitely deserves

Yield: 40 macarons

Ingredients
For the cookies.
  • 1 batch of plain macaron shells.

For the filling.
  • 1 cup champagne.
  • 2½ large (75 g) egg whites.
  • ½ cup sugar.
  • pinch of salt.
  • 16 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature.

Instructions
  1. Prepare the macaron shells and let cool. Set aside.
  2. In a medium sauce pan, bring the champagne to a boil. Let simmer for 10 minutes, or until reduced to ¼ cup. Set aside and let cool.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or other heat-resistant bowl), combine the egg whites, sugar, and salt. Set over a small pot of simmering water, whisking constantly. Bring to 160F and then remove from the heat. Beat on medium-high speed with the whisk attachment until cooled to room temperature and stiff peaks have formed, about 8 minutes. Reduce the speed to medium and then add the butter, 2 tbsp at a time, only adding more after the rest has been incorporated. The frosting may start to look soupy or curdled, but just keep beating and it will eventually become fluffy again.
  4. With the mixer on low, add the reduced champagne one tbsp at a time, allowing each to be incorporated before adding the next. If the frosting starts to separate, keep beating and it will eventually come back together.
  5. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag and pipe onto the flat side of half of the macaron shells. Top with a second shell and gently press together so that the frosting reaches the edges. Refrigerate overnight before serving.

"A Hundred Years From Now” It will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."

As Memorial Day approaches let’s all remember to honor the men and women who served and are serving our country, put themselves in harm’s way for us and stand tall for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Earth Day 2018: End Plastic Pollution.

Close to 48 years ago, on 22 April 1970, millions of people took to the streets to protest the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development.

In the US and around the world, smog was becoming deadly and evidence was growing that pollution led to developmental delays in children. Biodiversity was in decline as a result of the heavy use of pesticides and other pollutants.

The global ecological awareness was growing, and the US Congress and President Nixon responded quickly. In July of the same year, they created the Environmental Protection Agency, and robust environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, among many.

Earth Day 2018

From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet.

In response, Earth Day 2018 is dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics.

AMC Binational Committees Working Strengthen Region Through Collaboration.
The Arizona-Mexico Commission’s (AMC) binational committees have been hard at work this month, working for collaborative ideas and solutions that will strengthen our region. Governor Ducey has set an ambitious vision for the committees in partnership with Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich - a vision that is producing real results with lasting impacts.

Just last week, the Arizona and Sonora leadership of our committees came together at the AMC Inter-Plenary Session to set goals and develop their work plans leading into the June 2018 AMC Summit.

More than 120 Arizona and Sonora leaders attended the meeting, continuing their work to increase competitiveness and quality of life across the region by strengthen the ties between our states and countries.

This kind of collaborative cross-border work is what has fueled the AMC’s proven legacy for nearly 60-years and it’s what continues to strengthen the business and cultural ties between our states.

Arizona & Sonora - Creating a safer trip to RP.

ADOT representatives visited Mexico recently to train first responders, the military and government officials on Traffic Incident Management, which promotes quickly clearing incident scenes when appropriate as well as safeguards for motorists and emergency workers. Traffic Incident Management techniques have been shown to reduce secondary crashes that often are more serious than the initial incidents.

The next step of this binational partnership is Sonora creating a safety corridor before spring break season along the 63 miles of Mexico Route 8, which many Arizonans take south from Lukeville.

Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, is a popular destination for Arizonans. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, more than 910,000 people entered Arizona at Lukeville during the first 10 months of 2017, many of them Arizonans returning from visits to Rocky Point.

Welcoming Spring

Here are some ideas how you can celebrate Ostara (spring equinox).

  1. Take a walk. Notice the birds twittering. Take a moment to study a budding flower. Take your shoes off and feel the sand. (And while you’re at it, take a moment to ground yourself) Let the breeze dance in your hair.
  2. Meditate outside. Find a quiet spot, wherever you feel most comfortable. Take a seat, close your eyes, and just breathe.
  3. Plant something. Whether it’s a single seed or full blown tree is totally up to you.
  4. Lay under a tree and just be. Lie under a tree and watch the way the sun illuminates the leaves.
  5. Bird watch. You can always sit quietly in your yard and watch the birds, but if you’re really in the mood for a gaggle throw a handful of seed onto the grass and wait for the party.
  6. Have a picnic. You can plan a special Ostara meal filled with Ostara foods (anything fresh and vibrant is appropriate!).
  7. Smudge yourself. Just as the earth sheds its icy cloak, it’s time for you to shed that funky energy! Grab yourself a smudge stick, a twig of rosemary, or a handful of sage leaves and get rid of the stagnant energy of winter! And while you're at it, spring clean your home's energy!

Most importantly enjoy the nature, connect and care about it and yourself.

Holy week & Easter in Mexico

Semana Santa (Holy Week in English) is the week leading up to Easter. This is a very important religious holiday in Mexico. Religious celebrations are at the forefront, but, since Mexican schools have two weeks vacation period at this time (the week of Semana Santa, and the following week, which is referred to as Semana de Pascua, which means "Easter Week"), it's also a time when Mexican families head to the beaches and tourist attractions.

Religious Celebrations
The religious observances of Semana Santa do not take a back seat to beach fun, however. Processions and passion plays take place all through the country, though different areas celebrate in different ways and certain communities have more effusive celebrations.
Jesus' final days are evoked in the rituals that take place during the week.
